KPOP Shirt Sizing: How to Pick a Size You'll Actually Wear

The most common reason a KPOP shirt ends up unworn is not the design. It is the size.

And with printed-to-order merch the stakes are higher than with warehouse stock, because there is nothing sitting on a shelf to swap it for. So it is worth five minutes to get it right.

1. "Unisex" means men's cut. That is the whole trick.

Almost every graphic tee, crewneck and hoodie in KPOP merch — official or fan-made — is a unisex garment. Unisex is not a neutral third sizing system. In practice it means the garment is cut on men's proportions: straighter through the waist, wider at the shoulder, longer in the body and sleeve.

What that means for you:

• If you normally wear women's sizes and want a fitted look, you generally go one size down from your usual number.
• If you want the oversized look — which is what most KPOP fandom styling is built around — you go up, and we will get to how far.
• If you normally wear men's sizes, unisex is roughly your usual size.

Getting this one concept right solves most sizing mistakes before they happen.

2. Size without a tape measure: use a shirt you already love

Forget your height and weight. They tell you far less than a garment you already own and already like the fit of.

1. Take your favourite tee — the one that fits exactly how you want.
2. Lay it flat on a table. Smooth it out, do not stretch it.
3. Measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. That is the chest width.
4. Measure from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem. That is the body length.

Now compare those two numbers to the size chart on the listing. Chest width is the one that decides whether it looks right. Length decides whether you can tuck it.

Two numbers, one minute, and you skip the guessing entirely.

3. How far to size up for the oversized look

"Oversized" is not one look. There are three, and they need different amounts of extra room:

• Relaxed — sits away from the body but the shoulder seam still lands near your shoulder. One size up.
• Properly oversized — shoulder seam drops onto your upper arm, boxy through the body. This is the standard KPOP concert-fit look. Two sizes up.
• Dress length — worn over shorts or leggings with the hem near mid-thigh. Two to three sizes up, and check the body length number, not just chest.

4. Tee, crewneck and hoodie do not size the same way

They are different garments on different blanks, and what you wear underneath changes the answer.

• T-shirts — worn on skin. Size purely for the look you want.
• Crewneck sweatshirts — usually worn over a tee. If you are already sizing up for an oversized look, you rarely need to add another size on top for the layer; the extra room is already there.
• Hoodies — heavier fabric, so they read bulkier at the same measurement. A hoodie two sizes up looks considerably larger than a tee two sizes up. If you are between choices, this is the one where going up one size instead of two is usually the better call.

5. Between two sizes? Go up.

A cotton-blend garment can shrink slightly in length on the first hot wash even when you do everything right. A shirt that is slightly too big styles fine — you can tuck it, knot it, or belt it. A shirt that is slightly too tight has no fix.

6. Why made-to-order changes the rules

Being direct about this, because it affects how carefully you should choose.

When a shirt is printed to order, it does not exist until you buy it. There is no shelf of other sizes behind it. That is why most made-to-order studios — including this one — cannot accept a return for a size or colour change or a change of mind. Damaged, defective, wrong item or lost in transit are a different matter and get replaced or refunded.

It is not a policy designed to be awkward. It is what the production model allows. But it does mean the two minutes with a tape measure in section 2 is the single highest-value thing you can do before ordering. 7. Where the chart is

Every listing on this site includes a size chart image in the product photos — scroll the gallery past the design shots. Measurements there are in the flat-lay format described in section 2, so they compare directly against the shirt you measured at home.

Quick reference

• Unisex = men's cut. Women's sizes: down one for fitted, up for oversized.
• Measure a shirt you own, flat, pit to pit. Compare chest width first.
• Relaxed = +1 size. Concert-fit oversized = +2. Dress length = +2 to +3.
• Hoodies read bulkier than tees at the same number — size up less.
• Between sizes, go up.
• Wash cool, skip the hot dryer.
